P90X Resistance Bands vs Dumbells

If you have ever been on the search for dumbbells you have probably ran into one constant problem, they are pretty expensive, and if you already have dumbbells you probably used them for a while, but now they just stay in your closet, or they just sit around as paper weights. When you first bought your dumbbells you probably felt love for them like a new kitten, but now that you have had your dumbbells for awhile, you probably have come to the realization that you despise them every time you look at them, and that they are not easy to travel with. If you are tired of your dumbbells or you are looking for some dumbbells to buy, than let me you give a different option, “resistance bands”. Now you have probably heard of resistance bands, and you have probably blown off the idea of them because they look too basic, but do not knock it until you try it.

Resistance bands have a unique way of working out your muscles; different from those of a dumbbell, and the difference is what makes resistance bands so great. Unlike dumbbells, bands have the ability to provide resistance through your whole motion, resistance that will challenge muscles you normally would not challenge with a normal dumbbell set. There are also literally hundreds of workouts you can do with resistant bands that will provide your upper body with great strength, you can also do exercises with your legs too. No only do they workout your muscles better, but they are also less expensive and easy to travel with. Have you ever gone on a business trip, wanting to take your dumbbells with you but could not because they are just too heavy to pack? Well with resistance bands you do not have to worry about weight and they will fit in just about anything, so you can continue your routine where ever you go. No matter how fit or strong you are, there is a resistant band for you. There are many wide varieties of bands that you can use. So if you have hit some plateau with your workout, try switching to resistance bands to get out of that plateau.

Here are some routines that work great, for basic bicep curls, stand on your band with both feet about shoulder lengths apart, and do a regular curl just like you would do with a dumbbell. For triceps, put one foot forward and with your other foot stand on the band, stretch your band above your head so your arms are vertical, bend your elbows back behind your head and back up, make sure you keep your elbows still. For your shoulders, use the same position you would if you were to work out your triceps, but instead do a military press motion. With these workouts it is very important that you go slow; do not rush things. For a workout routine that uses bands really well, try the P90X routine, it has a wide variety of workouts you can do with these resistance bands.
