Hip Hop Abs is a new workout program that claims to produce tight abs with no crunches. After all, who actually likes crunches? Crunches are boring and often ineffective. Lying on the floor to do all those crunches puts stress on your back and neck. Hip Hop Abs has the solution. Not only does Hip Hop Abs avoid crunches, but the ab workout is actually incorporated into the dance moves.
Using his signature move, Tilt Tuck & Tighten, Hips Hop Abs creator Shaun T introduces a way to do crunches while standing up. The Tilt Tuck & Tighten is basically just a tilting of the shoulders while tucking the tailbone and tightening the abs. It takes a little time to get used to the move, but you can definitely feel it in your abs. The Tilt Tuck & Tighten is used throughout the Hip Hop Abs workout. The Party Bounce is the Tilt Tuck & Tighten done to the beat of the music. From there the choreography gets a bit more challenging. It does not take a lot of time to get the choreography, but it make take a bit of practice to perfect the moves and get the maximum benefit from the workout.
Hip Hop Abs comes in 3 different packages. There is the original package, which includes Fat Burning Cardio, Ab Sculpt, Hips Buns and Thighs, Total Body Burn, and Last Minute Abs. Fat Burning Cardio uses dance to achieve a cardio effect and burn excess calories while having fun. Ab Sculpt and Last Minutes Abs are both workouts that focus specifically on toning the abs. Although the Last Minute Abs workout is only 5 minutes long, it really targets the abdominal muscles for an effective workout. Hips, Buns and Thighs is a lower body workout that targets the largest muscle groups in the body. Finally, Total Body Burn targets all the major muscle groups in the body while also raising the heart rate. All of the workouts include dance choreography that almost makes you forget you are working out.
The
Hip Hop Abs Ultimate Results package consists of Fat Burning Cardio 2, Ab Sculpt 2, and Total Body Burn 2. The Ultimate Results workouts are basically longer versions of the workouts from the original package. The latest workout set is the Dance Party Series. This set includes Cardio Groove Dance Party and Booty Shakin’ Dance Party which are the cardio-focused workouts. Also included are Rockin’ Body Dance Party and the Hard Body Dance Party which has the usual cardio dance routines as well as some light weights and strength training exercises.
All of these
workouts routines are crunch-free. Hip Hop Abs uses dance to take the monotony and discomfort out of crunches. Although the dance moves don’t really translate outside your living room, the workouts are a fun way to get an abdominal workout. Shaun T has created a program that offers to help your abs look like his. If you’ve seen Shaun T’s abs, you’ll know that’s not a bad thing.
